Charleen Larkin's love for photography began in her sophomore year at Killingly High School. Capturing Images for class assignments sparked her creative skills as well as her enjoyment for processing and printing in the dark room. Her high school photography teacher encouraged Charleen to enroll in the Rhode Island School of Photography, graduating in 1989. In 2001 she realized the dream of owning a studio, opening Charleen's Portrait Studio in Danielson, Connecticut. In 2005 the studio moved from its original set up of one camera room in 1100 square feet of space to its current custom-built location in Dayville, Connecticut which boasts Two camera rooms in 3000 square feet of space along with a state of the art processing and printing lab.

As a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Charleen has earned the organization's Certification, a level of recognition achieved by only three percent of photographers in America and Craftsman Degree. She is also a member of the Professional Photographers of New England and Connecticut.

Charleen enjoys volunteering in many capacities. In her efforts to contribute to her community she has been a member of the Danielson Rotary for seven years, serving as Centennial President in 2004 and 2005. She served as the President of the Main Street Merchants, Inc. from 2004 to 2006. Charleen has also served on the board of directors for the Killingly Brooklyn Cultural Foundation for five years and directed the Springtime Festival Queen's Pageant from 1998 to 2000. It is through her ties to Killingly High School and the Danielson Rotary that Charleen was provided the rewarding opportunity of serving as a mentor to a local teen in 2002.
